1968 Dodge Dart

Bruce Brandol is only the second owner of this car. He bought it in 1970 with the help of his Dad. He drove it to school, college, work, and even enjoyed Friday, and Saturday night street races on State Street in Salt Lake City! After a few years he had to store the car because of too many traffic tickets. He stored the car at his Grandmother's house where she took very good care of it. In 2004, he started the restoration process with the help of his good friends Mark and Rick Sovereen. The car was completed in December of 2009 (five years, one month, and two days later). In March of this year, he debuted the car at "Mopar At The Strip" in Las Vegas. There the car took first place in the 'A' Body Restified class, and more importantly, the car was picked for an article in June's issue of Mopar Milestones. The article was a five page lay out with photos taken by Jerry Heasley who is a world renowned automotive photographer.

Stats:

OWNER: Bruce Brandol

ENGINE: I had the original 340 rebuilt adding performance parts like a Lunati Voodoo cam, Diamond light weight pistons, roller rockers, MSD electronic ignition, Edelbrock air gap dual plane mainfold,750 cfm single pump Holley carb, and TTI headers with an x-pipe.

DRIVETRAIN: Behind the 340 is the original 727 transmission (rebuilt of course) with a mild shift kit, and deep oil pan to keep it cool. The original rear end was also rebuilt using the factory 323 sure grip gear set, supported by a new stack of Mopar leaf springs.

CHASSIS: The entire chassis was taken apart, sand blasted, and powder coated.  I then mounted everything on rubber bushings, using over sized torsion bars, and front stablizer, then added a rear stablizer bar, and KYB shocks to give it that cop car ride.

INTERIOR: The entire cabin of the car was in very good shape.  I was able to clean and restore the dash, guages, arm rests, door panels, door handles, console, etc.  As for seats and carpet, I purchased Legendary seat covers, seat foam and carpet kit to give the car an original 1968 look.

BODY & PAINT: Body and paint was masterfully orchestrated by Gary Fronk of Providence Utah.  The only new metal needed was two rear quarters.  The entire car was shot with the original color, Sunfire Yellow, which just pops in the right light. Chrome by Ogden Chrome, of course, and what an excellent job they did!

TIRES & WHEELS: Trying to keep this car looking like a day one car, the original steel wheels were painted body color, then wrapped in BF Goodrich Redline rubber, and finished off with set of dog dish hub caps.

BRUCE SAYS: "I'd just like to extend a special thanks to Dan and Steve at Ogden Chrome for what they have done for me and my car.  You have made my restoration experience much more then I had ever dreamed of.  You guys are AWESOME."

Thanks Bruce, we think you're awesome, too!
