John Machen's 1930 Ford Model A Sedan
Before |
After |
John Machen's 1930 Ford Model A Sedan was the first car we featured on Tuesday, August 3rd. We spoke to John after the show and here is what he had to say:
On Hot August Nights:
"It was very enjoyable, fun, all those adjectives. Crowded! It's a good time of year because of the weather. People are for the most part very friendly, both locals and out-of-staters. It was my third time at Hot August Nights. I was there every day."
On the Makeover with Kindig-It:
"Dave was very down-to-earth, nice. He is an extrordinaire on his workmanship and his drawings, turning an ordinary car into something elaborate. He is a great artist."
"I liked the makeover a lot, if I could afford it I'd probably have Dave do exactly what he drew. I never thought of some of the things Dave did; he's got that imagination in his head and puts it down on paper and it's cool. My favorite thing he did was extending the hood to put a larger engine in, the chopped roof, and the longer nose."
"Having the two cars in the booth, the 32 and the Camaro...Dave and I walked around that car and he pointed out what he did to it, and without ever knowing the things they did I would guess 99% of people would just think, "Cool car!" but the intricate things Dave explained were like, "Wow, I never would have guessed that! Wow, that made the car!" From where the dash and door meet it's kind of square, but he rounded the door panels so they flow into the dash like an arc. Little things like that you wouldn't notice but it was interesting learning about that."
On Ogden Chrome:
"The displays in the booth, the chroming, different kinds of metal, polish, befores and afters are neat. The cars that the OC booth had were phenomenal. All the personnel were very nice toward everyone, not just me. Dan was VERY nice, bending over backwards to make sure everything was good with me; he was a great guy. Ogden Chrome's work is phenomenal, I can't wait to use my gift certificate!"
