Brian Rothe's 1963 Chevy 1/2 Ton Pickup was rendered by Dave on Wednesday, August 4th. Here's what he had to say after the show:
On HAN:
"I've been going to Hot August Nights for years. It's exciting! I anticipate it for the entire year and prepare for it. It's always a great time...tiring, but great! It's neat to see the whole city kind of change for the event because it's really essential for our economy."
On the Makeover with Kindig-It:
"Working with Dave was really fun. He was like I expected, a real young, kind of enthusiastic, on the edge in the car building world. He is top tier, of the same mold as Jesse James and Chip Foose. He's different, of course, but still, you compare them. He certainly stands on his own but is definitely an up-and-comer. It was neat to meet that type of artist and talent. You can converse with him on any level. He's very polite, not full of himself, down to earth. The things he's done are pretty amazing. It will be amazing to see where his career goes."
"I loved the ideas he came up with, they were awesome. I don't know if I could implement as far as cost, but that wasn't really the experience. It was seeing the process. I am an Assistant Principal at a local school and I will be hanging the result my office and a copy in the art room for the students to see. I will tell them this story and hopefully it will inspire them to chase their dreams!"
On Ogden Chrome:
"I was so surprised by Ogden Chrome. Everyone was awesome! I loved the great little goody bag they gave me, and I rang the bell for the poster. They made me feel like I was working there that day. I was able to go to the fridge which was fun because it was so hot; Dan made me feel like part of the team for the day. Everyone was really enthusiastic and it was fun to be a part of that energy."
"The booth was very impressive. The two cars they had on display were mindboggling in what they had to offer. They started the cars [Engine Wars!] and that was neat. I really loved how they had before and after pieces. The displays were cool, very aesthetically pleasing. I also picked up some Wildwheelz cards and had them autographed by Dave!"
"Dan was the most impressive, I was really surprised by Dan. I didn't realize he had invented a program I use in the school system. I have never met an individual who is so..."WOW!" He's really smart, you get that feeling around him. He's an incredible marketing guy, high energy, an amazing individual. I didn't think I'd meet the CEO of the company! The story of the company and how they'd changed Ogden Chrome and the direction they are moving was really fun to listen to. At the end, when they were tearing down the tent, Dan got his hands dirty like everyone else. He was very impressive."
